Double espresso coursing through his veins, Alex climbs like a mountain goat
  • John O’Groats to Land’s End by bike

We're Alex and Mike, two friends who work together, and this September we're riding the length of Great Britain from top to bottom. Seems like it'd be a fun thing to do.

We also thought it was a great opportunity to raise money for some good causes along the way.

You'll find our random musings and notes on preparing for the ride here, a little bit of bike pr0n from time-to-time and dietary advice.

So, if you're after crucial information like the best kind of bacon to prepare you for a day in the saddle, the isotonic properties of bitter or how to use the power of grumbling to improve your climbing, you're in the right place.

The Final Stage

Sorry about the lack of updates, we’ve had somewhat erratic internet access. We’re about to set off on the final leg to Land’s End. Allez!

The enforced weather delay worked to our advantage in the end. Alison, Alex’s wife, had taken the week off, so for the final four days of riding we had a support crew. Tonight we dine in Preston!

“So, have we done about 7 miles then?” “No Al, we’ve done 14.” “How’s that even possible? I’ve only been on the bike for about 30 seconds.” Yeah, so it’s been pretty good having 2 days off the legs – partly to build up some kind of energy reserves and partly to get over my … Read more

A weekend to remember: part two

Otherwise known as The Day of the Headwind. And so it came to pass that the sour remnants of Hurricane Katia paid us a visit. I think she was foremost in all of our minds for most of the day. Quite a few people have asked why we rode North to South, when that’s often … Read more
